Sam struggles to fit her curly hair into hats, but over the years she has metaphorically worn many! As a singer in a nationally recognized choir, as the lead female vocalist of an indie rock band, as a backup vocalist on festival stages, as a choir teacher, event organizer, video producer, and founder of a music non-profit, all of them barely fit on the metaphorical hat rack!
Sam is a music educator, vocal coach, and performer who believes deeply in the power of community-centred music making. Trained through years of singing with acclaimed Canadian choirs and performing on stages across the country, Sam brings a uniquely warm, contemporary approach to teaching. Her classroom blends structured skill-building with the joyful experimentation that helps singers discover their most authentic sound.
As a choir and vocal teacher, Sam draws on her extensive background in ensemble work and vocal production to help students understand not just what they’re singing, but why it matters. She has led choirs, coached emerging vocalists, and built youth-centred music programs that highlight confidence, connection, and creative risk-taking.
Outside the classroom, Sam continues to perform, record, and collaborate within Vancouver’s vibrant music scene. Through her non-profit and community partnerships, she is committed to making music accessible, meaningful, and deeply human for singers of all ages. Her teaching philosophy rests on one belief: every voice deserves to be heard—clearly, confidently, and with heart.
